My Latest Cards

Well since I've been MIA from the blogging world, I thought I'd just post my favorite cards I've made in the last month or so...

Here goes LOL

This one was for today's Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS. Mulberry Batik. Well I don't have any Mulberry paper so I used a coffee filter instead, it worked great! I also used ink from my re-inkers rather than the WWC, but I like the more vibrant look anyway :) The Batik panel is backed with white paper to make it stand out more. The color combo represents my 3 latest clothing purchases :) A Cool Caribbean t-shirt, a Chocolate Chip t-shirt and Regal Rose CROCS :D LOL Ok so I'm a dork ;)

This was my card for the STL Shoebox Swap :) I won 2nd place! Woo Hoo!!! I bought this set and Background Sampler *just* so I could do this technique LOL. I always thought the flowers from Background Sampler were the perfect proportion for the boots from Flower Filled, and I was right! I love the kissed look here. And of course the "mud" is a great touch!

This was for Friday's challenge, Make it Masculine. We were to use non-masculine stamps to make a masculine card. Ok my mind works in really strange ways sometimes but this is what I came up with :) It's an apology reminder card for DH (or any guy really) You do have to spell it out for them sometimes ;)Flowers are good, Chocolate is better, but diamonds are the best! Any Questions? LOL So it probably isn't exactly what they meant for the challenge, but I had fun! (Oh and I doodled the chocolate and ring, the truffle being a very close replica of Anna's truffle from the Whipper Snapper stamp ;) )

This was my favorite from VSN last month. The challenge was to use something that flys on your card. Well again, it gives you an insight to my brain (as scary as it may be) But this is the first thing I though of... When Pigs Fly...

It's a really simple card, but most VSN cards are. I used my Cuttlebug for the scalloped circles (they call them flowers) and one of my circle punches for the middles. I drew in the wings and used stickles to make them sparkle. The oval is the A*Muse sm oval in white and then I used my Karen Foster Snap Stamps for the sentiment. I have no clue who I'll send this too, but I still think it's funny.

This was the hardest of the VSN cards. I had never made one of these pop-up cards or free-standing cards I guess they are actually called. It was really fun, but challenging to make in 45 minutes. The only requirements were that it had to have flowers and bright colors. I think I did that pretty well.

So there you have my favorite cards from the last few weeks. Hopefully I can get back into posting more regularly. (I'd better or Danita will get on my case ;) LOL )

Me and My Hip Update!

Wow, it's been forever since I updated my blog! I'm so sorry about that. I was having the hardest time with typing on the laptop (that keyboard is SO tiny!).

Ok so the good news :) I saw my Dr. last Wednesday and I am free from the brace, I can drive again and I can put 100% weight on my leg while still using 2 crutches! I go for PT 3 times a week for a month and while I'm doing that, as my hip gets stronger, I can get rid of the crutches altogether!!! Woo Hoo!!!! ***Happy Dance*** (OK so maybe I have to hold off on the dancing for a little while yet ;) )

I might just get to go camping and hiking this summer after all :) That would be so awesome! Kendalyn is begging to go hiking again. She had such a good time last summer, she can't wait for this summer to get here!

I'll have to send DH out to the garage to find my brace from when I was 15 months old! It'll be funny to see it next to the one I just wore! I'll post pics when we find the old one!

Just Giggle

Kendalyn's birthday is coming up and I wanted to make sure I had the right stamp/s to make her invitations. She wants a Princess party, and can you believe it, I don't own a SINGLE Princess stamp! So I gave her the choice of 4 different sets and she chose Alexa's set! Which was great because I wanted it anyway, plus the proceeds go to such a great cause!

If you want this set go to Missy B Designs

If you don't know Alexa's story, go here Alexa's Story

So just today I find out that Lauren is holding a contest for cards made with Alexa's set! Well guess what came today??? Yup! Alexa's set! I even broke Dr's orders and *drove* to the mailbox to get it! (Shhh! it's secret)

Well after I mounted the set on EZ Mount and trimmed it to my liking, I got to sit down and play! (The sitting down part is still a bit tricky, but I was too excited to care LOL!) I stamped the Princess in Basic Black and colored her with Prismacolors and blended it with Gamsol. The butterfly is also colored with Prismacolors and then I added some Diamond Stickles for bling! I just love using the Warm Words set in conjunction with Everyday Flexible Phrases, I think it's such a neat way to say what you want! The little flowers on the Word Window punched pieces are a hand held punch. I'm really excited at how this turned out!
Welcome to my new an improved blog. I hope you can find something useful, insightful, humorous or just plain silly here. Enjoy!
